Self Portrait day 3 - Mouth and Nose - Post Blog Progress

MOUTH
Add a 1 inch grid in the area of the mouth on the drawing paper and a 1/2 inch grid on your picture. Grid even smaller for best results.

Add mouth lines including upper and lower lip lines. Draw the teeth very lightly if you can see them. Pay attention to where the lip lines cross the grid lines


NOSE
Add a 1 inch grid in the area of the mouth on the drawing paper and a 1/2 inch grid on your picture. Grid even smaller for best results.

Draw the nose lobes and nostrils. DO NOT outline the upper part of the nose. You will shade this later.

Self Portrait day 2

Last class we created a 2 inch on our papers and took pictures.

Today we will:

  • Create a 1 inch on our papers 
  • Draw the outline around the edge of your face and head, inclding your hair, clothes, and ears.

Drawing a Pumpkin

Today we will draw a pumpkin by observation.

Before you draw remember the strategies we used for drawing realistically.

Using your thumb and pencil to find a unit of measure.
Draw everything in proportion to each other.
Use your pencil to find angles and compare the angle to the hands on a clock.
Use your grayscale to find shadows, midtones, and highlights.

Today you will complete your Notan. If you finish before class work on the Mystery Grid.

Take a picture of each project when you finish. we will post to the blog next class.
